Migration during hydrolysis of esters of glycerophosphoric acid; the chemical hydrolysis of L-alpha-glycerylphosphoryl-choline.
In view of the biological significance of the lecithins a.nd of the fact that t;hey have been known to the chemist for a hundred years (l), it is rather surprising that there should still remain doubts concerning the position of the phosphoric acid. Until recently it has been assumed by most workers that lecithins could be hydrolyzed chemically without causing a change in the position of the ph...
متن کاملThe Alkaline Hydrolysis of Sulfonate Esters: Challenges in Interpreting Experimental and Theoretical Data
Sulfonate ester hydrolysis has been the subject of recent debate, with experimental evidence interpreted in terms of both stepwise and concerted mechanisms. In particular, a recent study of the alkaline hydrolysis of a series of benzene arylsulfonates (Babtie et al., Org. Biomol. Chem. 10, 2012, 8095) presented a nonlinear Brønsted plot, which was explained in terms of a change from a stepwise ...

Infrared absorption spectra of mixed H2O, NH3 and 12CO2/13CO2 ices subjected to 1 MeV proton irradiation were investigated. The results of analyses of the spectra suggest formation of carbamic acid at low temperatures. The stability of this compound in the solid phase is attributed to intermolecular hydrogen bonding of the zwitter-ion (NH3+ COO-) structure.

A faster reaction of the cation is expected for the compounds with a free amino group in the acyl moiety. Such an increase was observed for Ala-Ala-pnitroan~lide b.ut not with Ala-p-nitroanilide. Fischer · et al. concluded that a larger inc-rease in k1 with the latter compound was compensated by a reductionin k2/ki. so that the observed k1k2/(k~1 + k2) term remains the same. This assumption of ...
